Meet the Instructors

Program Director:   Meaghan Morrissey

Meaghan has been an instructor for the past four years; starting at Courageous in Boston, three years at Hull YC, then last summer at Northeast Harbor Sailing School.  This year she is excited to rejoin the staff at Hull YC.  Meaghan will be graduating from the College of Charleston with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology and hopes to continue onto nursing school next year.  Meaghan comes from a sailing family and has been sailing for fourteen years.  She has spent several summers coaching Optis from beginner to advance and is looking forward to doing so again this summer.  Meaghan also has experience coaching 420s, N10s, and Rhodes19s.  She also has a license to operate powerboats, CPR/First Aid training, and her US Sailing Level 1 Sailing Instructor certification.

Sailing Instructors: 

Charlie Vangel –Charlie has been an instructor at Hingham YC for the last two years and was an instructor-in-training for two years prior.  Charlie is a member of the Hingham High sailing team.  Charlie has a great deal of experience teaching and racing 420s, Optis and N10s.  He is licensed to operate power boats and has applied for his launch operator license as well.  Charlie is also pursuing the US Sailing Level I Sailing Instructor certification.
Katie Doble – Katie also is a former Hingham YC instructor/instructor-in-training for three years.  Her experience at Hingham was principally instructing the Opti sailors.  Katie has an impressive racing resume and plans to continue her racing career in college.  Katie comes from a sailing family, and her father is the sailing coach at Hingham High. 
Julie Manning - Julie is returning to the program.  She has been a junior instructor and a participant in the club’s junior sailing program for many years.  She also plans to pursue her US Sailing Level I Sailing Instructor certification this spring.  Julie is licensed to operate power boats up to 60’ and is CPR certified.  Julie attends Hull High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society.
